ALPINE SKIING

Alpine skiing on slopes and off-piste is experiencing a steady change due to ongoing developments in the ski industry and in ski technology. The trend sport freeski has established itself amongst the youth - slopestylers and freeriders are obligatory in the ski resorts. However, elegant skiing and skiing for health are still very popular with guests from home and abroad. In order to meet the ongoing changes and developments in the ski industry, the Austrian Ski Instructor Association, together with the local ski instructor associations, has developed the Ski Instruction Teaching Plan.

LEARNING PATH

LEVEL 1 SKI INSTRUCTOR (ANWÄRTER)

You will receive training with the main theme "alpine skiing" as well as an introduction to snowboarding and the latest trends. Other important topics include the pedagogically correct handling of children and an introduction to alpine safety.

SKI INSTRUCTOR (LANDESSKILEHRER)

Following a positive result in the Level 1 Ski Instructor examination and a successful qualification test, the next level is Snow Sports Instructor in "alpine skiing". Furthermore, you will receive training as a Level 1 Snowboard Instructor as well as training in telemark, the current trends and snow sports without handicap. Alpine education is an important part of the course.

DIPLOMA/GRADUATE SKI INSTRUTOR

Training in "alpine skiing" is perfected following successful completion of the Ski Instructor (Landesskilehrer) course as well as passing a qualifying test and takes place at the highest international level. Further qualification as a snowboard instructor is also included. Additional training content covers cross-country skiing and trend sports. The "Euro-Test" as well as a comprehensive alpine education ("Euro-Security") form part of the training programme for the Diploma/Graduate Ski Instructor course.

SKI GUIDE

After successfully completing the Diploma/Graduate Ski Instructor course and passing a qualification test, the Ski/Snowboard Guide training is the last stage in the Austrian ski instructor education. An essential part of this course is alpine safety.

The Austrian Ski Instructional Trail

The new Austrian Ski Instruction Teaching Plan - From Start to Perfection in Four Stages - is the Austrian snowsport instructors’ guideline for teaching practice. The contents of this curriculum form the basis for the introduction to the profession of Austrian snow sports instructor and is the basis for all snow sports instructor training in Austria, and thereby, also for Tirol’s ski instructors. The current Austrian Ski Instructor Plan comprises four stages, which leads the skier or snow sports instructors from start to perfection. The new Austrian ski teaching plan does justice to a modern and contemporary methodology and guarantees an optimum learning success through all teaching and learning phases.
