In Austria alone, approximately 20,000 active instructors instruct over a million ski school guests. No fewer than 7,000 of these ski instructors are actively employed in Tirol’s ski schools. While in the 50’s it was almost exclusively adults who attended ski school, nowadays more than 60% of the ski school guests are children and teens. The reason for this development is likely to be the increased confidence of the parents in the ski schools and their trained personnel. They are also happy to leave the patience-demanding and not always easy task of teaching children and young people to the snow sports instructors.
